Towards the end of the ‘80s, Mirco "Micromix" Salvadori joined one of the first "free radio" stations in the Venetian hinterland, and began transmitting sounds which at first had some connection with classical patterns, but not for long. After a little while, the appeal of the new post-punk sonorities would transform a small late-night programme into one of the most widely listened-to radio broadcasts in the area. With the arrival of Massimo Caner as co-host, the programme moved to a larger radio station and became "NOCTURNAL EMISSION": a sound with an unmistakable signature which for over fifteen years has musically formed and informed the minds of several generations of listeners, using the airwaves to spread the first musical germ of what would later become a universally recognised electronic sound. NOCTURNAL EMISSION has lately recommenced its exploration of the ether by starting a collaboration with "DISERZIONI", another historic radio programme which is put out on the SHERWOOD RADIO frequency. In parallel with his radio activity, Mirco is also involved in specialised journalism, starting a collaboration with the monthly ROCKERILLA as long ago as the early ‘80s. This relationship restarted in 2007 with a NEW COLUMN DEVOTES EXCLUSIVELY TO THE NET SOUND. The epic New Wave years saw him as manager of DEATH IN VENICE, a band with only two EPs to their credit but whose "dark" Venetian sound left an indelible mark on the post-punk scene of the period. With the start of the 21st century, Mirco moved from radio into the clubs of Venice and Mestre, with DJ sets which aimed to cover the entire arc of electronic experience, revealing a preference (up to now) for ambient sound, chill, idm, glitch, field recordings, airy post-rock, noise introspection, etc//////////----------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOCTURNAL EMISSION 1st FLIGHT's compilation opens a new chapter of artistic productions under the NET LABEL LAVERNA: "NOCTURNAL EMISSION 1st FLIGHT" is the first of a series of projects whose common denominator will be the transmission of electronic sound under the aegis of a CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSE.
